History of Las Vegas Blvd

Las Vegas Boulevard was established in 1905 as a dirt road that connected the downtown area of Las Vegas with the Union Pacific Railroad station. The road was later paved, and as the city grew, it became the main street for businesses and residences. In the 1940s, the first casinos were built on the Strip, starting with the El Rancho Vegas. More casinos and hotels followed, and by the 1960s, the Strip was a major tourist destination.
